Actor Junaid Khan, son of superstar Aamir Khan, is making his debut this year. Fresh off the news of his historical drama Maharaj releasing on Netflix on June 14, the actor has reportedly begun filming for his next project, a yet-untitled romantic comedy. Directed by Advait Chandan of Secret Superstar and Laal Singh Chaddha fame, the film will mark Junaid's foray into the rom-com genre and pair him opposite Khushi Kapoor, daughter of the late actress Sridevi and producer Boney Kapoor.
According to a report in Mid-day, sources revealed the shooting began on Monday in Mira Road, Mumbai. While originally scheduled for June, director Chandan apparently moved the start date to accommodate Junaid's promotional commitments for Maharaj next month. The film is reported to be a remake of the 2022 Tamil hit Love Today, which starred and was directed by Pradeep Ranganathan. The Hindi adaptation is being produced by Shristi Behl and Phantom Films, the banner responsible for critically acclaimed films like Queen, Masaan, and Udta Punjab. Notably, this marks Phantom Films' return to production after a hiatus. The initial shooting schedule involves three weeks in Mumbai, with the Seven Eleven Club banquet hall in Mira Road serving as the primary location for the first few days. The aim is to complete outdoor filming by mid-June before the monsoon season arrives. Junaid's father, superstar Aamir Khan, is reported to have been heavily involved in the pre-production of the film. However, he will be heading to Delhi this week to finalize shooting for his own upcoming project, Sitaare Zameen Par.
